The Mysterious Mangroves of St. John, US Virgin Islands. Caroline S. Rogers PhD

Marine ecologist Caroline Rogers spent hundreds of hours exploring and photographing the corals and other animals growing and living among the fringing red mangroves of Hurricane Hole, within Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument. No other mangrove areas in the Caribbean are known to have such a high diversity of stony corals. These beautiful photos capture the enormous variety of corals, fishes, sponges, anemones, sea turtles and other animals living in this special place.
